An Honorable Vocation Nowhere But the USA

March 19, 2007 - Leave a Response

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more
than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year…

Can you guess which organization this is?

Give up yet?

It’s the 535 members of the United States Congress.

The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to
keep the rest of us in line.

Love ‘em Dixie Chicks….

March 8, 2007 - Leave a Response

The Dixie Chicks last album won five grammys. They should have. They are very talented singers; but, American radio doesn’t like their patriotic views. I always thought that the good ole USA was a place that people had the right to their political views. The Dixie Chicks have paid the price because of thesehypocritic radio stations who refuse to play their music. What a joke. I wonderjust how many of these radio station owners voted for the present, President? The Bible says: “If you are without sin, cast the first stone”.I guess all of these radio stations are perfect, course we’ll see, when Judgement Day comes….won’t we?

The Country Music Association didn’t nominate them for any awards. What a bunch of hypocrits. Reminds me of the baseball writers who refuse to put anAmerican hero into the Baseball Hall of Fame for gambling; but, the ones who vote for the Football Hall of Fame, voted for a “coke” addict to be admitted. Sounds to me like our newspaper writers have their priorites bassackwards.

I, for one, will continue to listen to whatever music I so desire; and it will be by cds or cassettes. Maybe if enough of us listen to cds and tapes and cassetts, the radio won’t have anyone to listen. Wouldn’t that be funny. I keep my music and politics seperate. I don’t choose to tell the world what to do or to censure the world. That is God’s job, not mine. As far as I know, our US Constitution guarantees our right of freedom of speech, and it doesn’t say to retaliate against people who do. I would rather listen to a CD or a Cassett any day as listen to a bunch of music jockeys who think they have the right to censure people and their beliefs.

Man, the USA Has Problems….

March 8, 2007 - Leave a Response

I watched C-Span one night this week concerning the problems with the Walter Reed Hospital

located in our nation’s capitol. The Dallas Morning News wrote that the “Commanders Admit Fault”.

In my opinion, admitting it is a cop-out. Why did they allow this to happen? They sit up there all dressed

to the “nines” in their respective armed services dress uniforms and admit the fault. That is the easy part.

Our government fired the General who was in charge. Why fire him? Give him the job of cleaning up this

mess that he chose to sweep under the rug. He was paid a salary, but, he didn’t deliver the goods.

Looks to me like he owes America for his salary. I say make him to fix the problem.

When folks like this have a tremendous responsibility as this is or was, why does it happen? I always thought that the

politicians were the ones that couldn’t be trusted. As much as I respect our President, our government

is in a hell of a fix. All politicians do is talk, talk, talk, and pass the buck.

Government used to be responsible for their actions and accountable to the American people

who elected them to do so. Seems to me, that they are only accountable to the Lobbyist who has the most

money in his or her pocket. Lobbying should be repealed. The common American pays dearly for what they have

and don’t have. This “legal extortion” needs to stop now. As Harry S Truman used to say: “The Buck Stops Here”.

Of course we know that, that won’t happen. Congressmen do one thing and say another. They voted in a

tremendous retirement package for themselves and their wives. The cowards didn’t have the “balls” to subject

this bill to a vote of the American people because they know it would have crashed and burned.

That is why they continue to take money out of our Social Security system and give it to the illegal alien

who didn’t earn it or pay into it. If Social Security comes up short, hey, Congress won’t have to worry about

it ’cause they have their own retirement benefits, courtesy of you and me. We know who the Patriots are

in America, and they certainly don’t reside in Washington DC.

Our elected officials are all about the almighty dollar. Our FDA sells us out to the pill companies, and look what

happens. Some of these pills kill people, but, the responsible ones get a way with it while padding their

bank accounts.

Life, IS, like a box of Chocolates….We Never Know What Is Gonna Come Outta Washington DC.

The Time Change Bug Is Coming…..

March 6, 2007 - Leave a Response

The United States as well as the computer community will endure a new and different time change bug this year. Computers will have to be adjusted according to the software they are set up with. You are probably wondering why your PC will not automatically make the change as in recent times? Thanks to our elected representatives in Washington, the US will be making the change three weeks earlier than recent times in order to save energy. Your computer will have to be updated in order to get with the new program. Microsoft’s new Windows Vista will handle the problem without any other necessary steps; but, XP will require the Feb 2007 time zone update support.microsoft.com/kb/931836/en-us .
Microsoft Windows has a smaller program to take care of Windows 2000. A trip to the Microsoft update website will have a program for updating Outlook.
If you own a Blackberry, it will require an update, also. www.blackberry.com/DST2007/patch/index2.shtml, as well as the Palm OS Treo. Palm is behind, and hasn’t offered a patch as yet. Devices with embedded clocks will require an update because of this bug. TiVo has already sent the update to all of its boxes.

Remember When….

March 6, 2007 - Leave a Response

Most fans will recognize the title, above, as the name of an Alan Jackson recorded . I recognize it as more than a ….a story perhaps, of growng up in the 50s & 60s. The starts out by telling the listener about the first a young couple made , and then she cried and then the says, “Remember When”.

I “Remember When”. I suspect the ones of us who grew up in that era, remembers a of things that happened, that todays teenagers know nothing about. Of course, the generation before ours, probably thought or said the same thing.

It seems to me that the world was less complicated back in the ‘good ole days’.
Gasoline was a 15 cents a gallon, and a pack of cigs was 25 cents. Everytime I hear a “golden oldie”, it me back to that era. There is not now nor will there ever be & Roll music as good as in those times.

Even music was better than the present of ’so-called’ with the exception of Alan Jackson, George Strait, or Hank, Jr. Very few stars sing to day, most of it is Pop and would have been heard on “The Hit Parade” which was popular in the . In the 50s & 60s Era, & Roll and Do Woop was the best music.

Back in those days, boys were boys and gals were gals. Boys didn’t wear ear rings, that was reserved for gals. There was no such thing as body piercing other than ear lobes. Tattoos’ were mostly popular in our Armed Forces. Drugs were not much of a problem…..beer and alcohol were the concerns of the day.

I a of friends that were killed in wrecks to and drinking most prevalent during the Spring when Junior & Senior Proms were held.

We attended schools whose total populations weren’t nearly as large as some classes are today. either played sports or was a participant in band or was hoping to become a Farmer in FFA. Highschool football teams were not nearly as large physically as teenagers are today. I remember pep rallies and floats every year for Homecomin’. That was always a big thrill to me to be able to participate in. In my hometown of Davis Oklahoma, the Kiwanis Club held an annual pancake supper. I miss those days.

At Halloween, our little one stop-light blocked off part of street and detoured traffic for the annual Halloween Carnival. We had cake walks, costume contests, and drawings. Also, the held a parade with locals participating. Those were the good ole days.

My generation came of during the Hippy and Vietnam Era which was a total mess in my opinion. turned their backs on my generation that managed to come home alive, after this war came to a close. Even our own government bailed out on our “boys” when the war was over.

There was a foliage gas used in Vietnam that was named “Agent Orange”. Our government denied that it existed; but, lots of veterans who fought in this war, died at relatively young ages to all types of tumors and cancers. After many years, Uncle Sam finally admitted that it existed and that it was made by the Dupont . Go ………

is the greatest in the world; but, a of our leaders are not fit to be elected officials. I really think that most of them go to Washington DC to get .

Back in the old days, I believe it was an honorable to represent ones’ fellow in our US Government; but, today most of them are not

I remember back in the 50s when young boys played “marbles”, and young gals played “jacks”. In our early lives, we were taught at home to respect people who were older than we were, such as our school teachers, pastors, postmen, and policemen. We also learned discipline at home, as well as, school. spittin’ on.

We recited the Pledge of Allegience and a Prayer before class began, every day.

Since our Judges and Courts have been turned over to the Liberals the last few years, all discipline as it was known in the ole days, is gone. Morality used to be a national pasttime. I believe is more disrepected today, than respected.

I don’t know what has brought on these few thoughts today, other than I just filed for my Social Security benefits. A couple of years ago, I was “19″ and in a couple of , I will be “62″ and,

I REMEMBER WHEN…………………………….
